Eat More of This and Less of That

The picture says it all but I’m going to tell you what’s on my mind anyway. If you want to change your health you HAVE to eat more of this and less of that.

This all started with a Facebook rant after scrolling through my newsfeed and seeing a potential client who has asked me for help on numerous occasions but has yet to follow through…posting a recipe for 3 ingredient Chicken & Dumplings.

Did it look tasty? You’re damn right it did!  Was it cheap and easy to make? Of course! Was it healthy? Not so much. It consisted of 4 breasts of chicken, 2 cartons of chicken broth and and 2 cans of biscuit dough. Could it be made healthier? SURE it could! Take away the canned biscuit dough, replace it with about HALF the biscuits made in a healthier form (there are a million recipes out there for healthier breads, look of paleo options) and add a bunch of veggies to it. Celery, carrots & onions would be FABULOUS and not that hard to chop up and cook with it.

People who SAY they want to lose weight and get healthy then constantly share recipes of processed, high calorie food that has no nutrients in it at all or posting Facebook status updates that they are eating at Golden Corral of Taco Bell are not focusing their thoughts or setting their intentions to achieve SAID DESIRE!!!

In short…it makes it easy for me because it is CLEAR that they aren’t READY to change just yet. However, it is sad because I wonder how many more pounds they will put on or how much more unhealthy will they get before they DECIDE enough is enough?

I love this quote I found on HappyHerbivore.com

Seriously folks…

You’re NEVER gonna lose weight eating crock pot macaroni & cheese, chicken & dumplings, ribs drenched in sauces, cobblers, cakes, 3 layer brownie bars, piles of mashed potatoes, grilled cheese sandwiches and daily candy bars…you get the idea.

You need a reality check. I know I DID and it came in the form of depression and a gut check from my doctor. I’m not a nutritionist and I don’t pretend to know everything OR be perfect. BELIEVE ME… I HAVE MY BAD DAYS and I certainly don’t eat perfect all the time! It’s HARD WORK and I KNOW IT first hand!!!!

Here’s what worked for me:

Educate yourself on food. Watch documentaries about food. I recommend Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead, Forks Over Knives and Food Matters just for starters. Get some clean eating cook books. Shop the PERIMETER of the store. Stay away from the foods in the center isles. Download the Fooducate app on your smartphone and scan the barcodes of your favorite foods to look for healthier options.

Chances are you don’t even realize it but you are probably ADDICTED to the foods that you should eat the LEAST. Get off of them for 2-3 days and the detox headache you develop will show you just how addicted you are. <—– Drink lots of water, get lots of rest and trust the process. This too shall pass and in time you won’t want anymore processed foods and if you do give in now and then (most of us do and it’s OK!), your body will wonder WHY the heck you did that!

The good news is…it is EASY to DETOX (naturally by eating whole foods, NOT by STARVING or drinking apple cider vinegar) and you can kickstart a healthy diet in as little as 3 days but I suggest doing it for at least 3 weeks if you REALLY want to make a difference in your health long term.

I have the tools that work. I’ve used them myself and it was the best investment I ever made. Check out www.myultimatereset.com for more info.

Ok RANT OVER. Happy thoughts!!!
