Grease is the Word

Grease is the Word

Grease Is The Word

OK, not really, but I can’t get the lyrics out of my head and now, neither can you. You’re welcome.

Thank God it’s a great song! 😉

Just think about these lyrics for a moment….

We take the pressure, and we throw away conventionality, belongs to yesterday

There is a chance that we can make it so far
We start believin’ now that we can be who we are, grease is the word                                                                   It’s got a groove, it’s got a meaning

Grease is the time, is the place, is the motion
Grease is the way we are feeling                                                                                                                                   This is a life of illusion, a life of control
Mixed with confusion, what’re we doin’ here?”

Those lyrics don’t just take you back to a place in time when we saw this great movie with Olivia Newton John and John Travolta that reminds us of our own first love and days of high school with old friends and the choices we had to make about who we wanted to be when we grew up.

They make you think…. ok well maybe it’s just me but they make me ponder on that last line… “what’re we doin’ here?”

I asked that on a Facebook post the other day and it seems I’m definitely not the only one that ponders that question. “Why am I here?” What’s my special purpose? <— That one always makes me think of Steve Martin in The Jerk. I love that movie too! 🙂

January 1st has a lot of us doing some serious soul searching. We reflect on how far we’ve come since last year. We ask ourselves what we achieved, did we reach our goals, are we where we thought we’d be by now?

If you’re like many people I know, setting a New Years Resolutions seems a bit redundant and easier to fail than to achieve so why not start somewhere simple…with just a WORD to live by this year.

Do you do this? This is something I enjoy doing every year. It can be a process but it’s worth your time and I believe it’s something you need to meditate on to find the right word for you. This can be entirely different for all of us.

Perhaps you want more ABUNDANCE or to be more GIVING or you lack STRENGTH so you want to focus more on that. Maybe you want to improve you HEALTH or just be more HAPPY. GREASE is probably NOT your WORD but now you see why it’s been on my mind right? LOL.

Whatever you choose you should FOCUS on it throughout the year. Pray about it. Write it down on your bathroom mirror, maybe make it a screen saver on your phone. Put it someplace you will see it often daily and be OPEN to allowing it to show up more in your life. When you find your word, share it with someone you love and ask them to pray about it for you.

This year I chose the word RECEIVE because I’m naturally a people pleaser and all my life I’ve never really felt worthy of gifts or people’s time or love. This year I want to be more open to receive more in my life and all that God has to give however it may come.

I love this quote by T.S. Eliot….

“For last year’s words belong to last year’s language

And next year’s words await another voice.”
T.S. Eliot, Four Quartets

So in closing, Grease is NOT the Word but I want to share a couple of websites I found that may be helpful in helping you find your word in 2017. Check out… http://myoneword.org/pick-your-word/ or http://www.susannahconway.com/word/.

The latter may take a while longer for you to find the right word with her process but you may enjoy it.

I’d love to hear from you so please comment below and tell me what you think of this blog and if it helped you find your word for 2017. Feel free to share it if you liked it and let’s keep in touch throughout the year and see how life is going with our new words.

As always, thank you for following me and I wish you all the best in 2017 and beyond.

Happy New Year!

Lynda
