Fried chicken used to be one of my favorite foods but it is something that I almost NEVER eat anymore. The way I used to cook for my family compared to the way I cook now is COMPLETELY different but I didn’t make those changes overnight. It took time to learn healthier alternatives and to find things that we could still enjoy as much as the bad stuff. The truth is that I was just like you and didn’t even REALIZE that what I was eating was BAD until it started taking it’s toll on my body and how I looked and felt. But I am happy to say that I did learn to change my unhealthy ways and you can too!!!
When you educate yourself on the damage you are doing to your body by making unhealthy choices it makes it a LOT EASIER to give some of those choices up for good. In general it isn’t bad to have a piece or two of fried chicken once a month but what is bad is eating it once a week along with other fried foods regularly. Poor choices made often lead to poor health, clogged arteries, poor circulation, unhealthy skin and so much more. The damage we can do to our bodies with the food we eat is incredible yet most of us have no idea that we are doing it. It might be cliche’, but I am here to tell you that YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT!
Think about it the next time you go out to eat at a restaurant. look around at the people eating near you. Take notice of what they look like then take a good look at what is on their plates. Not always but MOST of the time you can SEE pretty clearly how the poor food choices result in being overweight and in poor health. The grocery store is the same way. Take a look at what people have in their shopping carts. 9 times out of 10 the obese people have their carts LOADED with PROCESSED, PREPACKAGED FOOD, instead of fruits, veggies, lean meats and good dairy products (not the sugar loaded yogurts and such). Look at what the healthy, lean and vibrant looking people have in their carts. Chances are they have a few items that are not so great choices too but the majority of their foods are probably NOT prepackaged in boxes and bags like cereals, frozen foods, cake mixes, and whatever else you find in the center isles of the grocery stores. SHOP THE PERIMETER OF THE STORES for the BETTER CHOICES and EAT TO LIVE, DON’T just live to eat.
NOW, start thinking about how YOUR FOOD CHOICES are affecting YOUR BODY with EVERY SINGLE MEAL you eat. Look around and be AWARE. Start asking yourself if what you are eating is going to act as FEUL for your body or just become JUNK in your trunk.
