Meatballs and Marinara
This is a Meatballs & Marinara recipe is one I concocted on my own and it happens to be the one my husband most often requested while we did the Whole30 and again today. It just might become a weekly staple in our meal plan!
Now that I think of it, next time I make this I’m gonna make a triple batch of this recipe and put some in the freezer to save me more time in the kitchen the next time my husband requests them. #WorkSmarterNotHarder is my motto! 😉
This recipe is simple, because let’s face it, I don’t like to spend my life in the kitchen, but it’s definitely tasty and oh so filling so don’t be afraid to make it when you’re entertaining your friends.
1 lb grass fed lean beef
1/4 white or yellow onion
1/2 green pepper
1 tbsp Italian Seasoning (I like the McCormick Italian Herb Seasoning because it has a little kick)
1 tbsp minced garlic
Meatballs: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Put the ground beef in a medium size mixing bowl. Dice the onion and green pepper in a food processor or by hand and add to the bowl. Add the Italian seasoning and garlic and mix well with your hands and form into balls about 2 inches in size. This should make about 9-10 meatballs. Place in a cast iron griddle pan or on a broiling pan so the fat can drip off the meat. Bake for about 30 minutes or until done.
Marinara Sauce: Heat Trader Joe’s Marinara Sauce on medium low while the meatballs are baking & add 1 tsp of garlic, 1 tbsp of Italian Seasoning, 1 tsp of dried basil. Stir often.
The Trader Joe’s Marinara Sauce what I used during the Whole30. I also like Newman’s Organic Marinara as well but it has some sugar in it so it isn’t Whole 30 approved but it is easier to find in most grocery stores.
Be sure to check out my recipe for Spaghetti Squash too! My husband was amazed at how good it was and complimented me on it at least 3 times, which is a LOT for him! We may never make pasta noodles again in this house! 🙂 #WinnerWinner #MeatballDinner
