Ok, I have to admit that was a bit of a trick question to catch your attention.  The truth of the matter is if you want to get into the best shape of your life everyone should take some form of supplementation.  You have to keep in mind that when people say “supplement” they are basically referring to anything outside of normal food.  That multi-vitamin that you take is considered a supplement.

45234_321228454646364_1481470504_aSo why do I say that everyone that wants to get in the best shape of their life should take supplements?  The short answer is that the food we eat sucks for the most part.  And I am not even talking about the poor choices that we make.  I am talking about the quality of food in the United States.  So much of our food system is processed and modified.  It is hard to find that hasn’t been chemically altered in some way.  And yes local farmers and organic foods are definitely a step in the right direction.  Unfortunately however, while it may be possible to supply your body with the basics through whole foods, we aren’t looking to just get by.  To get in the best shape of your life you can’t just settle for functioning adequately, you need to function optimally.  And to do that requires supplementation.

Even though I am in favor of supplementation, I do NOT think there is anything such thing as a magic pill.  The supplement industry has to keep coming up with NEW stuff so they can sell products.  They have not been able to sell people hard work.  So they have to create new and exciting supplements with outrageous claims.

My supplement recommendation is much more basic.  All you really need is a good vitamin & mineral supplement, a quality fish oil supplement, and if you goal is muscle gain a quality protein supplement.  That is it really.  You do not need to dedicate an entire kitchen cabinet to your supplements.  Just buy quality to ensure you get the benefits.
